About MADWOMEN

Q: What is MADWOMEN?

A: MADWOMEN is a group of Madison and Jefferson County activists, allies, and supporters of women’s reproductive health rights in Indiana.

Q: Where are your activities focused?

A: Our efforts are centered on tackling issues at the local level in Jefferson County and on supporting important initiatives at the state level.

Q: What is MADWOMEN trying to do?

A: MADWOMEN is committed to educating and encouraging local Hoosiers to engage in the political process to restore women’s right to healthcare.

Q: Why are we mad?

A: We are passionate about defending women’s rights and we believe that Indiana’s anti-choice laws have negatively impacted every woman in our state. We are also mad because our group was founded in Madison although we welcome support from all across Indiana.

Q: How are women’s rights being threatened?

A: After the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe V. Wade, anti-choice laws were passed in Indiana restricting safe access to abortions. This recent legislation violates the rights of women statewide and will drive damaging uncertainty, fear, and unsafe abortions across Indiana.

Q: Does MADWOMEN endorse a political party?

A: While not affiliated with any political party, we support those running for office that align with our shared values.

Q: How can MADWOMEN make a difference?

A: Although national elections tend to grab the headlines, it is local and state elections that often have the biggest impact on our day-to-day lives. We are providing the voting public with the necessary information to make a lasting and meaningful change on election day.

Q: What is MADWOMEN doing to promote awareness of the challenges facing women?

A: Our awareness campaign involves educating voters through demonstrations, billboards, yard signs, handouts, door-to-door outreach, and active candidate engagement.

Q: Shouldn’t we be marching in the streets to bring about the change we want?

A: Although MADWOMEN actively participates in demonstrations and protests, we believe that voting is the best way for us to effect change. Voting for what we believe in isn’t just our right – it’s our responsibility.

Q: How can I register to vote?

A: Visit https://indianavoters.in.gov/. You only need a driver’s license or state-issued ID to register online.

Q: Where can I find more information about the candidates in upcoming elections?

A: We have gathered political information on current candidates, such as voting records, candidate stances, and ballot information, at our website, www.madwomen.in.

Q: How can I get involved?

A: Check out our website www.madwomen.in and feel free to email us at contact@madwomen.in. We are always looking for passionate people who want to get involved and make a difference. Please follow us on [social media] and help spread our message throughout the state and beyond.
